Middle School: Grades 6-8

The St. Peter Middle School curriculum is rooted in faithfulness to Catholic Social Teaching.  Our lessons have as their focus  the dignity, rights, and freedoms of all people, as well as our responsibility to ensure that all people are treated equally and fairly with love and compassion.

Our rigorous curriculum ensures our students' success at top high schools. Our students graduate exceedingly well prepared academically, as well as with an understanding  that they have a responsibility to care for others and for all of God’s creation, knowing they have the ability to make the world a better place.

Mathematics

Our mathematics curriculum prepares students for the most rigorous high school programs.  Eighth graders complete a full Algebra 1 course.  Classroom instruction is supplemented with the IXL computer program.

National History Day

Our students have been awarded top state honors at Rhode Island History Day yearly. In the past nine years St. Peter School students have been chosen to represent Rhode Island in the nationwide National History Day competition at the University of Maryland.

Science Fair

Our eighth graders select a topic, create a hypothesis which they will research and test.  Winners from our school competition go on to represent St. Peter School at yearly Rhode Island Science and Engineering Fair.

Field Trips

The Middle School curriculum places high value on experiential learning. Classroom learning is brought to life through the numerous field trips that explore the areas of art, culture, history, and science.

Fostering Creativity

Students hone their creativity and performance skills through creative writing, producing plays, and competing in the annual Middle School poetry slam.

Bringing the world to the classroom

Students benefit from programs where professionals from our community come to our school. Attorneys, judges, and law enforcement annually provide students with first hand accounts from the legal community. Actors and directors from Trinity Reparatory Theatre provide workshops where students can experience what it like to be a part of the theatre arts.

I feel very prepared for wherever I choose to go to school next year
